My line in fashionable headgear

Being of a modest character, I don't like to tell people how, during the seventies, I used to dress up as Lord Krishna. I used to do this so that my devotees really would believe that I was God in human form. For those of you who don't know, Lord Krishna was supposed to be God come in human form and is written about in old Hindu scriptures and fairytales. I figured that if I dressed myself up to look like Krishna then my devotees would have the proof that I was indeed God.

This worked like a miracle! I was helped at the time by my Indian devotees who are suckers for any fairy story and who told all my western devotees that they had witnessed, beyond all doubt, that I was the reincarnation of Krishna. All I had to do was don my Krishna crown and sit on my throne on the stage at my devotees' gatherings and they all believed I was God.

The fact that I was half cut at the time and dying to get backstage to have a smoke didn't spoil the effect. They would sing devotional songs to me and if I ever smiled, they all went wild! I used to add to the effect by holding a flute since Krishna used to play the flute. Often my devotees would beg me to dance for them so I used to oblige by waving my arms from side to side and they thought this was the divine dance of Lord Krishna. The fact was, that I was too fat to do a proper dance so waving my arms around seemed like the best option.
